Top 5 Wednesday

Favorite Side Ships

Its time for another Top 5 Wednesday post…..on Thursday? But, its my blog, so I can make the rules, right? 🙂

This week’s #T5W post is all about our favorite side ships which are romantic parings that don’t involve the (main) protagonist. I thought this was just a great topic, I knew I had to do it.

Please note that if you consider romantic pairings spoilers – you may want to proceed with caution.

1.  Rhy and Alucard

Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab

ryuichifoxe: “ Won’t lie, I’ve wanted to draw these two smooching since finishing the book, but out of state shenanigans were had. Also, excuse any fuzzy quality, just click on the image and that should fix it. Tumblr’s image size restrictions kill...:

I absolutely adore this couple. I loved Rhy from the first book. Then Alucard swaggered across the page in book 2, and my shipper heart when a bit crazy. These two are so great together, and I loved seeing how their story played out over the course of the trilogy.

2. Magus and Alec

The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare

“ “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ”

Cassie Clare writes angsty romances so well. And I’ll be honest, I’m a sucker for a good angsty romance. I absolutely love the relationship between these two. Plus, it just keeps getting better. Seeing them in the Dark Artifices series made my heart so happy. And, I was trilled to find out that Clare is writing a new trilogy focused on them.

3. Nina and Matthias

Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo

Six of Crows is out! Nina and Matthias are adorable, I can’t stand them. That’s why I did this piece, ahahaha.

I love all the romantic pairings in the Six of Crows duology, but Nina and Matthias are definitely my favorite. Nina is a such a fantastic character, and I loved seeing her relationship with Matthias. It’s a hate to love kinda deal, which is one of my favorite tropes. Nina was unapologetic about her size or her personality. And Matthias loved her for it.

4. Iko and Kinney

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

So this pairing isn’t cannon (yet). But that doesn’t stop me from loving it. I fell in love with these two in Winter. And, my love was further cemented in Wires and Nerve, Vol. 1. She’s vibrant and badass. He’s brooding and snarky. Need I say more?

5. Richard and Emily

Gilmore Girls

Kelly Bishop: How the Late Ed Herrmann, Richard Gilmore Will Figure Into 'Gilmore Girls' Revival:

Gilmore Girls is one of my favorite shows of all time. And while Richard and Emily weren’t perfect parents, they did love Lorelai and Rory. And, they really loved each other. Their relationship wasn’t without its issues, but they worked through them and came out the other end stronger than ever. And that scene in the hospital? It gets me every time.

So what about you? Do you love any of these couples? What’s your favorite side ship?

  1. Haha I’m rewatching Gilmore Girls right now on Netflix! I love that show! Still hoping it’ll be Jesse and Rory In the end! Guess we’ll have to see when they write the new seasons. They left us on a pretty big cliff hanger.
